Tips for 360 Flips:

Trick Discription: A bs 360 shuvit combined with a kickflip. Invented by Rodney Mullen. (like anyone cares)

Foot Position: The setup is simple enough, just have your front foot set at the same angle as a kickflip, but if you have a weak flick then put it down lower, and if your flick is strong then put it more towards the front bolts. Closer you have your front foot to the front bolts the cleaner it looks and the more easy it is to land. Now for the back foot place it so your foot is on the tip of the tail, covering the whole tail. It helps also to have your toes hanging off the tail so when you scoop it you get a nice easy scoop.

Ok first off make sure you have varials on dial, it helps heaps, but its not 100% needed. Next step is learning the 360 Flip. The most common problem with these I can say is landing on the nose, the reason is because your leaning forward to much so your weight is distributed evenly, also inertia causes the board to move backwards as well... come on its physics. So have your back straight kind of like the heelflip and don't lean too much in any given direction. If you have to lean somewhere then it should be backwards just a little bit. Now crouch down making sure to keep your back nice and straight and scoop the board around hard.

Make sure you focus on flicking your front foot out to or it will most likely just do pressure 360 Inwards or 360 shuvits. Work on getting that spin of the board and not actaully landing it for awhile, and when you notice that you can throw the trick EVERY time and land it so its close to you, then the commitment part comes into play hardcore.

I find it useful to have your shoulders parallel with the board when your spinning so all you do is jump up, and forward/ backward and you can land it. Some people also find that there tres are under them so when they jump forward to land, you only land on your heels. For that its common sense, just jump straight up and down.

Tips for getting these faster is do them fakie at first, well throw the trick fakie anyway, you don't have to land it. When that is easy then try to throw it regular and it should come faster. Then try landing it. My main problem with these right now is I land all twisted up and I slip out, to solve that just do what I said above and keep your shoulders parallel with the board. This trick takes dedication and trial and error.

This tip might not help you or anyone because the tre flip is different from person to person. Just don't work on the tre flip and get it good... and notice your front foot is below half way down the board, I mean come on what kind of pussy does tres with there front foot like 4 inches close to the back bolts?

Well to recap on the tre flip, just work on it for a long time, because this has to be the hardest trick to master in skateboarding. Oh yeah also if you notice that you are just spinning the tre and you don't hear a distinct "pop" sound, then thats why its going behind you. Today I skated indoors and I couldn't hear a pop so I started focusing on popping it, then I landed it like 3 times in a row.

Also again, when flicking make sure you flick straight out and not sideways. If you flick out sideways then your front foot might stop the rotation or flip and cause it not to do the full trick. Just think in your head of the steps it would take to tre flip, and with the flick make sure you start flicking off the board when its actually about 30 or 40 degrees started. By that I mean wait till its started rotating, THEN flick it, and make sure you flick straight out and its should be under you.

So remember the important details with this trick: Focus on the pop, flick, and scoop when doing it... focus on each one seperatly at first so you get each one mastered. Also keep your shoulders parallel with the board or you will land all twisted and stuff, and you'll slip out. If you notice any problems developing ask me or someone who does these about it and figure a way to counter that... or just look back at this tip.

Problem: Landing upside down
Solution: Focus on your flick of the front foot to get the kickflip in there, because most likely your assuming that the board will flip itself because you can kickflip... not true. Make sure you watch your foot flick off STRAIGHT and you see the actually FLICK. It helps to film and watch again in slow motion.

Problem: Doing 270 Flips
Solution: Obvious... scoop harder. Just for awhile focus on the scoop part till you get the board to do a 360 with ease. I found when learning these that to get the 360 I learned how to bigspin, fakie 360 shuvit, and ect. All that extra practice adds up in the end because the board will spin alot easier.

Problem: Landing on the nose
Solution: Well inertia is causing the board to go behind you so to counteract that you either have to jump back with the board, OR, keep your back nice and straight and don't hunch over. Also don't lean in any given direction or you will lose your weight distribution and land on the nose. Just make sure you are crouching and not hunching because you wont land anything with that kind of technique.

Problem: Landing it all twisted and eating it hard
Solution: MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR SHOULDERS PARALLEL. If not then on take off you'll get all twisted because of the effort it takes to spin the 360... not sure if the happens to everyone but it happens to me.

Problem: Not popping it
Solution: Duh come on, just really pay attention to the pop part of it. I found skating inside of a covered area like an awning or something makes an echo so you can hear if you pop or not. If you are popping then it should be staying under you pretty much, but if your don't pop then its most likely just spinning around and it ends up behind you. Just focus on the pop.

All around info: Main thing I found with this trick is focus, either focusing on the pop, flick, scoop, or landing.... in the end its all about focusing on each section individually so you master each one, then move on. If you do that then in the end it will be a nice, sexy, clean 360 flip. Hope this help people because I spent an hour writing it haha.

Good guide! This should help some people. I doubt it will start the flooding of "How do I 360 flip?" topics however!

wink.gif Good guide though.

Here is my little contribution to this... My friend gave me this tip and it worked form me, I can catch 360 flips high and bolts.
Get set up how you do 360 flips but dont put way to much effort into you flip and just jump straight up no other direction. (some times people jump a tiny bit forward) but jst lightly jump up and try to stay light footed.

Yes he's right... nice work there smile.gif

thats exactly the same one the other guy just posted -.-'
HARRY.
With the flip, how do you flip it? Just like a regular kickflip?
SkateMike
yeah make sure you flick a bit harder other wise the scoop will just spin it and have no flip
HARRY.
Thanks.

You don't have to flick harder than a kickflip..

The front foot requires minimal effort to make the board flip.
