Did anyone watch this? It's being broadcast on digital on Sundays and BBC 2 on Wednesdays.
Captain Jack Harkness, the former Time Agent and con man from the 51st century last seen traveling with the Doctor, ventures to early 21st century Cardiff. There, he becomes a member of Torchwood Institute, a renegade criminal investigation group founded by Queen Victoria to battle hostile extraterrestrial and supernatural threats.

more of a PG rating than Dr Who, swearing and shagging involved from the get go.... the pilot episode was ok but all the way thru' it i kept thinking 'Men in Black' but a good effort and worth wasting an hour a week on... unlike 'lost'
[and for the anoraks out there 'torchwood' is an anagram of 'doctor who']

and oh yeah the welsh bird, don't like her either, not cos she's welsh like, cant blame her for that ;]

the 'welshness' is ok, the fact that it's set in Cardiff is quite original...
but the moment Charlotte[the harlot]Church guest stars in it, it's dumped!

Yeah i watched it last night, not bad at all. That beast thing that sucked the life out of people was fucking cheesy, but as you said, compared to the last few episodes before, it was a lot better

I don't really like the new Dr Whos so that put me off Torchwood..
Then I saw the trailers and decided not to watch it.
Everyone I know who's watched it says it's pretty shit.
So I spend my time picking my nose instead.

Can I just say that no one in Cardiff speaks like that, they've all got this shitty horrible Cardiff accent.

as an opening episode it was fine (don't forget that this may be the first time that some ppl have seen Torchwood as it's only now on a 'mainstream' channel)
i love the idea that they've come up with, that a main character (Captain Jack) can generate sexual tension with his staff of both sexes!
the gayness in the show is ok, makes a change to have a bit of a change from the rampant heterosexuality in most other t.v. shows
(i'm fine with gays as long as they don't ram it down my throat

)
my only concern is the ongoing fascination with the 'man in a rubber suit' school of special effects, but, hey that's the heritage of Doctor Who.
all in all i thought it was a good start and i'm looking forward to a good season of entertainment....
HARRY.
