Ok the basis of this is can anyone give me any tips on how to skate switch?

I can do a switch ollie but they are not that great due to not being consistent, height isnt very good or it just flies away from me, but i would like to move onto switch pop shuvits and 180's once i learn a switch ollie too.

I know some people told me that nollie's are a good starter and if you have them pretty consistant and high then your bound to have switch ollies pretty sweet.

I have an reasonably high semi consistant nollie but when i try going switch it just messes up.

Any advice and tips would be most welcomed smile.gif
New Gnu
Same as regular.. practice..

Rodney
Switch fs 180's are fairly easy, as are fs shuvs.
SkateMike
i skate goofy so its gonna be harder for me sad.gif

I tried it today and almost got anal planted by my deck sad.gif i practiced my nollies and they were a bit better but not as good as i had em a few weeks back before it was raining

Switch is really really REALLY hard for me sad.gif

Practice more tomorrow smile.gif

how is it going to be any harder if your goofy?

switch is really hard for everyone when they first try, just like when you first try and push or ollie, the only difference being that you should logically progress through switch faster than you did when you started because your already confident on your board.
Ben
And you already know the foot movements for the tricks, or the ones you can do at least!
Gemmell
I learnt switch flip body varials before leanring how to normal kickflip, in a way it has messed up my skating but skating switch like on flat doesn't feel uncomfortable for me, what im trying to say just skate switch for a while and you will be really comfortable and then all your switch trixcks will pop up.
Spicker
dont try to replicate your foot placements for normal tricks when trying them in switch as chances are theyll be different
Serapth
As already said, practice, skating regular or goofy makes absolutely no difference to switch skating.

F/s 180's in switch are piss easy as are pop shove its, some people find them easier frontside than others so just play around with them and/or try them backside.

Foot position for flip tricks does differ though but thats a bit far ahead at this moment. Just spend time simply skating round in switch to get comfortable at first and try not to switch mongo push smile.gif
zhuk
Not good enough in my usual stance (which is goofy) to attempt switch

its funny...switch didn't exist when i first skated - no double kicks tongue.gif
Serapth
Nor did it me, we just used to say i can [insert trick name here] both regular and goofy.
SkateMike
switch ollies have got better today

..The fuck?

Anyway, my switch ollies are shite, but I can switch ollie 2 decks if they're there.
Switch ollies are the hardest part of skating switch, to be honest.
HARRY.
I love trying to skate switch.
It's hard but fun. smile.gif

Patrick is right there, Switch ollies are quite a bitch because of having to do the movement needed for an Ollie, when I flip the board this isn't the case, as I just float above the board and catch it nice, no need for the wave movement of getting the boardup and down. Hard to explain but yeah I agree with Patrick, once you can Switch Ollie consistantly (even if small and crappy) move on to the Flips.
SkateMike
well my switch ollies are a little better now, not quite consistent
Ben
My Switch Ollies are better when im doing them over something. Just on the floor over nothing they arent that consistent. Also Switch Ollies and switch tricks can be hard to learn if you have tweaked your ankle learning tricks in normal stance. Like I tweakeds my left ankle (im goofy) years ago and its quite fucked up now, and im sure its affecting my switch stuff!
Spicker
switch ollied a 5

i just twist my body bs slightly when i pop and i get them straight then when landing just treat it as a fakie ollie

Isn't that just the reason you started skating?
HARRY.
Guess so.
turdinthepants
learning to skate swith is like learning to skate from scrath, some tricks u will find are easier switch like for me i can sw heel better than normally.
Spicker
i find heels easier in switch, but cant switch flip for shit. switch varial heels are pretty similar aswell
Ben

Same here. I love Switch Heels, but my Switch Kickflips are shite!
Spicker
switch kickflips just feel, dyslexic, my feet just wont do it

Gemmell
im good at switch kickflips, but shite at switch heels, can still do them though, just look crap
Ben
Switch BS Heels are nice, only I cant get them too often. Switch BS Flips are too hard, cant get them down!
SkateMike
yeah only if i could actually skate switch then maybe this would be relevent tongue.gif ohmy.gif
Spicker
switch fsheels arent too bad, dot think ive tried bs thhiough, will do when my ankles beettr
KMA
i've been trying switch manauls/nose manauls.

i find it easier to fs/bs 180 into them cause you can find the balance point quicker due to the pivot
Serapth
I find the opposite, tis easier doing a switch ollie into switch manny
JJBDude
For those of you that like Switch Heelflips rather than Switch Kickflips, I am also in your boat. I did however spend a solid hour at least not long ago proper practising Switch Kickflips non stop, realising what I was doing wrong and fixing. I got them coolish now. smile.gif

Switch FS Heels are much easier than normal ones, doing a pivot into your normal stance is the biggest factor behind it really.
Relaxos
I can't skate switch to save my life. It actually feels *worse* than when I tried to start skating.

I might go ahead and try and skate for a whole day in switch only though and see if it improves. This is gonna hurt. smile.gif
SkateMike
k i can switch 180 f/s trying b/s and can switch shub f/s b/s and pop shuv f/s b/s switch ollie and now onto switch flips
Serapth
Backside and frontside switch bigspins are easier than regular. wink.gif
SkateMike
still no switch ollie off a curb yet xD and no further results on the switch flips tongue.gif ah well im still learning i guess

Backside! Man they feel so weird BS in Switch, I feel retarded when I try them haha. I agree with FS though, definitely easier.

360 Flips are not fun Switch, because I can do Fakie Bigflips I am used to catching the board on my fakie nose and doing a pivot to Goofy, this results in me doing the same with Switch 360 Flips grrr.
