Well i got my new ventures, on the factory setting they felt quite loose, so i tightened them a bit, and then they started to squeak/creak when i turned on them. Does this matter? Should i just keep them at the factory setting?

Squeaky trucks, huh. *sucks in air through teeth* Sounds dodgy. Reckon they need a new transistor, an oil change and the wheels need rebalancing.
Dude, they're just new trucks.
Same as new leather shoes tend to squeak when they're new.... no? just my shoes, then...

So it won't fuck anything up if i tighten it too much?

Don't go crazy on the tightening, you'll break your kingpin, but it should be fine. Get harder bushings if you like your trucks tight.
If anything goes wrong... blame fozzz.
I usually do.

Loosey goosey baby, loosey goosey.
Nah it dosen't actuauly matter, so trucks just squeak when tight, dont worry about it.

I'd recomend getting some hard doh doh bushings aswell, If you like you trucks tight, better than factory standards.

New trucks tend to squeek, you just need to ride them in. I tend to ride them loose as I like to skate a lot of bowl, however if I'm going on a street mission, I tighten those bad boys back up.

This is what got me into being a tight trucks only person, the whole squeaky business.
See back in the day I skated on my own outside of my house, just learning fliptricks, didn't talk to anyone about what's normal and stuff. Got a pair of Destructo trucks and was getting proper paranoid because they squeaked, tightened them up tons and that seemed to make it better, this of course caused an obsession, I now can't have loose trucks, the balance is not there.
Keep them loose now, don't go through what I do.

My trucks are looser than a scallie hooker... They squeek, veer like a bitch, and generally arent attached to my board properly... A bit of squeaking and creakings good karma man

haha

Don't listen to him. He doesn't know anything.
He's also northern.
I would say loose-ish trucks. I have might loose and they squeak a little bit, but when you keep skating it you forget about it, and it doesn't stand out as much.
I find that tight trucks are harder to turn on, so you have to put more pressure on one side. Just my opinion.

before i got my nice wiiiide indys i had some trusty trusty tensors that i had for agees.. like 3 years.. i like it loose and had the same bushings the whole time. they both ended up snapped in half and used to rub agaisnt each other and make a big squeak. so yeah squeaky trucks are fine nobodys gonna look at you funny!

Tighten you're trucks as hard as you can. Then some more.

hmmm i usually have semi tight semi loose trucks so theyre enough to lean on but dont flop about when im trying to do a trick
i would say leave them loose tho because when i tightened my destructos up when they were new it damaged the bushing and cut into it, now i have a bit of a split bushing

Ive only had squeeky truck syndrome from tensors.. can live with it though.
Prefer my trucks quite loose, loose enough to get wheel bite on worn down 50mm wheels.. Tend to loosen the bolt on the kingpin till its almost off (finger tight) then put a small blob of super glue on the threads to stop it falling off.

Loose enough so that i don't have to madly tic tac to get round corners, tight enough for stability when doing tricks.
Having your back truck slightly tighter than your front truck helps lots

Kind of a related question... I got some new venture lows and at factory settings, one truck was squeeky. Today when I went out skating, it fell off. The nut for the kingpin is now MIA. Anyone know what might have caused this to happen/how I could stop it happening in future? Or whether I could get a replacement nut without having to buy a new truck (pretty please say "yes" to this)?

Dont tighten them tomuch and they will be squeaky till you ride them a little also, venture trucks what where your thinking i had a pair and broke the king pins and they were near impossible to replace i had to buy new trucks in the end.

Doesn't really matter what you do really. I take out a spanner out when i first ride new trucks, tighten and loosen them untill they feel alright to ride.
It then usually takes about 2-3 days to get the completely bedded in.

Not really relevant but i got a pair of indy 129's for christmas and they seem to be soo loose even when i've tightened them up. I think it might be the rubbers, anyone else had the same thing?

Won't be the rubbers if there new just keep riding them.

Indy rubbers are shit, they both split within the first real session i skated them, I didn't even tighten them that much. Although I have fallen in love with indys.

Factory rubbers are utter gash, no matter how tight you have them they stay loose (this is on the lows) and they only do soft and medium rubbers, although with a vice and some patience you can get doh dohs to fit.
Really couldnt get into indys, gave them the benifit of the doubt, tried them and proceeded to repeated slam for the next few hours (rodney can vouch that this doesnt normally happen). They do grind nice, there is no denying that but i just couldnt adjust to them at all...back on venture lows thankfully now

I did like my venture lows (had 2 pairs).
I kinda got used to independants now, they're a really nice truck, the 129's are a bit bigger (heavier) than what i was used to but its not too hard to get used to.
I think i might take your advice serapth and try tp get some doh dohs to fit as the factory rubbers are absolutely torn apart.

Are yours lows?
If not, you wont need the vice to clamp the buggers down to make them fit!

my indy 129 highs are fine :S
took about 2 days to get used to them being loose when i first skated them but nothing has happened to them so far
my mate jordans did fall apart the other week tho, no damage, just randomely fell apart because of the nut on the kingpin never bein able to stay tight it just keeps on going loose

Yeah you should be fine, its just the lows that have odd shaped rubbers that need persuading with a vice to fit doh dohs.
