im learning them at the moment too mae and im nearly there.
what i do is put my back foot at the far side of the tail (at and angle and with my toes nearly on the side of the board)
than i pop bringing my back foot slightly towrds me, lift my legs up and slam them sown one the bord has rotated.

sorry probably not a good description and probably not how other do it.

Gorg.
For some reason i have these really inconsistant, one day i won't mess one up. Another i won't land one.

BS Pop Shuvits: Try putting your back foot close to the far edge of the board. Almost curling your foot round the curve of the tail, if you see what i mean. It's what you're supposed to do when you treflip i believe, but it works just as well with shuvs. And commit to the landing.

That's about all the help i can give you.

if you can, practise on carpet or onto grass. This will bring up your confidence in landing them.

As its only a shuv it theres not really any need to have ur back foot in the edge concave bit as the others have said. It will make the board spin more and probably too much. Just put your back foot in the ollie position but when you pop down slide your back foot backwards and guide the board with your front foot. Jump slightly forward and commit and you'll have them soon.
