So I went for a big skate sesh today. It was about 5 hours or so of broken-up skating. Learnt to kickflip properly. Not a huge deal, but still cool. But in the process of learning to kickflip, I forgot how to heelflip.

I have just recently got a new deck, which is slightly wider, and has a steeper concave than my previous deck, but as soon as I got it I could pop out heelflips on demand. Today they just weren't happening at all. The ones I did manage to flip properly, either landed behind me, or I only landed one footed.

Whats that about? Was it just a bad day? Was it fatigue creeping up on me? I tend to think heelflip is harder than kickflip for some reason. I get my feet caught in the spinning more often.

Thanks in advance <3 xx

well, it could be because you haven't adapted to the new board shape (width + concave differences), on top of fatigue or just simply not feeling it.

don't think anything of it and just skate on *thumbs up*

You probably just had an off day, try again tomorrow and you should have them back. If not you may be like me and do rubbish practically pea rolling Heelflips for the rest of your life, figure out how to solve the problem for me and I'llpay you a million dollars lol.

The thing with skateboarding is that it requires so much attention to tiny details. This can be hard while still learning a new trick on a brand new deck. I remember when I upgraded from a 7.5 to an 8 and 1/4. I had to completely reevaluate my technique for 360 flips and varial kickflips. In the end you just have to be willing to start over at times. Don't worry though, just stick to it and you'll be fine.
Try experimenting with different foot placements, a little trial and error might work in this situation.

Had a sesh yesterday, despite havin ankle problems, because lack of flipping was annoying me.

I think the new concave angle was catching me out or something. Either way, I figured out I wasnt hangin my foot over the side enough to get the proper flip. And I was bending forwards instead of squatting downwards.

Landed a few doubles, a fair few singles after I figured this out biggrin.gif

Thanks for the consolation during this difficult period guys tongue.gif <3
