I don't know whether this has been done before, but it wasn't specifically about any part of the board, so I guess it belongs here. If it has though, apologies, and this can be locked.
Right now I'm getting back into skating, and I've "borrowed" my no-longer-skating friend's board.
It's an 8" Melcher Surreal Death deck, which is a tad too wide for my tastes, but it's better than nothing.
The trucks are pretty much no brand cheapo ones and 54mm Spitfire team wheels, which are rather nice.

Jon, you're skating an 8"?
I'm skating a blank 7.5, as usual, cause I'm poor.
Grindking trucks, cause I wasn't poor for a day.
Mixed bearings, cause I'm poor.
Blank wheels, cause I'm poor.

I just got some Grindking's, as I've had my Venture's since I started skating in July 2004. They're pretty mangled now.

Claire
Jan 3 2008, 06:31 PM
ok, the deck size is just down to preference, nothing to do with what size your feet are!!
I know, it's just the general trend seems to be that people only really ride a 7.5 if the have small feet, most people round here seem to rdie 7.75 or 8. I don't think I've even ridden anything bigger than 7.5. Might try it at some point and see if it feels better.
(For some reason, talk of "riding 7.5's" cojures up dirty images in my mind ever time I read it. I think I still have the mind of a child.)

that's just plan weird
it took me ages to get used to the step up from 7.5 to 7.75, i imagine 7.5 to 8 would be really awkward for a while ?
Perhaps not awkward, but the change would be fairly obvious.
