Hey guys, I'm 17 and I briefly skated about 3 years ago, sadly though my rather cheap JJB deck snapped due to me continually attempting to ollie haha, and the grip tape wore down (although I realize that's fixable of course!) after about 3 months and as I've pretty much always lacked money until I've got a part time job I couldn't continue really.

So, I got re interested in picking it up again recently and I was just wondering what sort of budget you'd recommend to pick up a fairly decent and durable complete for someone who'd pretty much be picking up from roughly scratch again? For a max budget I'd say I had £80 (I have a reserve of money built up now thankfully), but really as I'd just be a beginner I don't think I need anything special, just something that will be reliable! Any recommendations?

Hopefully at some point I'll venture up to Manchester and check out some 'local' ( tongue.gif ) skate shops for advice but at this stage really I'm just wondering what'd be roughly sensible.

Oh and one final question: picking it up at 17 isn't too old to start up (albeit once more) is it? I know that when you're younger you're prone to picking up things with much greater ease, or so the theory goes!

Cheers in advance, sorry for the essay

£80? Could you manage an extra tenner?

For that you could get yourself a complete that not only would be suitable for a begginer but as you improve you wouldnt need to upgrade any of it either.

Which consists of:

Blueprint latest series team board, complete with Venture 5.0 trucks, Blueprint 52mm/53mm/54mm pricepoint wheels, abec 3's, bolts, risers, fitted with Jessups griptape.

The board you get might not be the same one as in the photo, but will definately be a blueprint team board.

This is available from scene in preston, the link to the set up is here

They also do cheaper set ups, which are still good deals but as you improve/try bigger things you may need to upgrade certain parts, just click the links below for more info..

£75 set up consisting of: Skateboard complete- Setup 1 Any £40 deck (from our Board section), Union trucks, Blueprint Belong wheels 52mm/ 53mm/ 54mm, Blueprint Dukes Abec 5 bearings, riser pads, hardware and Jessups griptape, all setup and ready to roll! Click for link

Cheers, and hah I'm just preparing for the onslaught of my senile arthritis - bring on the metal hips.

Alright Serapth I'll check out what you recommended, a tenner indeed isn't pushing the boat out, thanks once again

Basically though my logic is if I don't pick up skating now I'd only regret it later, and what's the point in that?

17 is fine.. started skating again at the age of 20... just a little different in finding balance with a few extra pounds.
The only thing I've noticed is I'm less inclined to throw myself down stairs than when I was 14.. Soon though
gge
good luck with getting back into skateing
