Oz.
Figured I'd start a thread on this, since I haven't been able to work out what I've been doing wrong.

Every time I try to heelflip, I can get the spin and everything but I always land about a foot ahead of the board (as in, the board is a foot behind my heels). I can't get it to stay underneath me.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Didn't YOU answer this question in the other heelflip thread?

(Retorical question, 'cause I know the answer) =)

"It's leaning too far forward. Try keeping really square and streight up on your board, with you chest facing forwards, almost to the point of where it feels like your leaning back."

just lean back (onto your heelside) a tad when you pop and flick, this way it should flip beneath you.

and if that doesnt work just experiment with different feet positions. maybe move your back foot back a bit (its hard to say having not seen a video of an attempt)

Yes BUT since then I've been getting even further away from landing them, and it's just getting worse and worse, so I thought I'd ask for some advice since I'm probably doing something fundamentally wrong.

Cheers, will experiment and try the heel thing. Sorry I can't get a video, I have nothing to film on.

Thanks for the link Simon, I've seen many trick tips for it though and still can't get it.

You and me both Oz. I still can't land them myself, but i think i know a couple of ways to help this problem.

Put your front foot a little bit further forward, toes off the edge if you have to, and your back foot a little bit back. (You have to experiment a bit) Also, stick your arse out and keep your head in line with your deck.

I've been trying these for almost a year now... unsure.gif

Cheers Greg, will try this stuff. Though I am beginning to give up on this bollocks now.

DON'T GIVE UP! I need a Heelflipping partner because i'm getting sick to death of them as well.

Next meet, we practise them 24/7 till we get them. Plan?
Dr. HeartStrings
its a simple matter of posture, when you do your tricks stand up straight and bend down straifg (don't hunch over your board) its a bad habit that not only hinders heelflips, but all tricks in some way or another (the best example for me is 360 flips)
dicky boy
i ued to have that problem and sometimes i still do

You'd better be getting that ass down to Bristol.
Oz.
Ahh yes there might be a small issue in that due to having my History, Philosophy and Economics exams three days in a row after the half term in which the Bristol meet is in is over. I need that time for revision sad.gif
Gorg.
I'm sure you can spare a day? Or if not, get up really early and do it then.

DO IT.

Heelflips piss me right off, I don't think I have the correct technique. Now I can do BS Heelflips nice (even though i don't think the way I do them is correct) and Switch/Nollie Heelflips are pile of piss, but Heelflips always get me!

I need to have a serious session on both Kickflips and Heelflips, 2 basic tricks I really do need to get nice high and smooth everytime. sad.gif

Handy tip for anyone doing them Switch, make sure you keep your bodyweight forward on your nose, always sorts me out if I start doing bad looking ones.

How can there be a right or wrong way to do a trick?
JJBDude
Don't flick out on the nose right. Of course there is no right or wrong way for any trick but I'd much rather fling out on the nose and get them gripping to my feet instead of like flipping out of the side which I believe I currently do.

I used to have this problem but i sorted it out.
I would always land ahead of the board, slightly at the side or sometimes i'd land back foot on and front foot way ahead of me off the board.

The way i do them now is to pop as hard as you can!
I always pop AMAZINGLY hard or else i won't land it, it's somthing about being above the board when it low off the ground, i hate the feeling so i always make sure i'm really high as i come in to catch them.
If i don't don't pop above the height of about 2 or more decks then i can't do em.

The other thing is, when you pop, lean back the tinniest bit.
And make sure that when you go to pop you're not leaning forward to much.
As you pop lean back slightly to let the board flip under you then catch it.

My heelflip method is a good way (also consistent) because my Heelflips are the same height if not higher, and as clean as two guys who have been skating 6 years and a guy who's being skating 7-8 years.

(I'm not trying to boast but that's just the way i do my Heelflips)

I hope this helped you and i really hope you have Heelflips dialled soon!!
Just use my methods and PRACTISE!! honestly thats the only way if you go out and try nothing but Heelflips for about an hour, using my methods you should get them.

Good luck smile.gif
