New deck. I have no Stanley knife at my current place of residence. How do I make an indent so that the mounting hardware sits level with the top of the deck, rather than poking out a bit.

Mounting hardware?

Are you wanting to cut into the deck? If so not wise, It'll take away loads of the decks strength making it snapp fairly easy.

Leave the screws sitting proud of the deck for a while.

You'll find that just natural use of the deck will push them into the griptape and you'll have to tighten them in a few days.

No stanley knife required. smile.gif

(although i'm confused as to how you gripped the deck without a blade of somekind...)

The screws attaching the trucks and deck is what I meant.
Well that's news to me, I did that for my last two decks.

But... when I try tricks it's gonna get in the way, and probably tear my shoes to shreds...

And I was a pussy and got the skateshop to grip it for me.

countersink them screws boy or expect cracks to start showin' real soon...

at least use a big drill bit and twiddle it by hand to get the same effect as countersinking. if you just tighten 'em till they sink themselves you're putting shitloads of pressure on the plies of your deck around the boltsheads
