So, in your opinion, which is the best skateboarding magazine? I know a lot here are Sidewalk fans but i'd be interested just to hear the feedback. Personally i've only ever read Sidewalk (Bit limited i know, but i don't have a local SOS to buy mags from, i only pick up Sidewalk if i go into London or somewhere)

I used to buy Document loads, but they stopped selling it like, everywhere in my town. So Sidewalk it is.
I do think i prefer Sidewalk overall, actually.

Sidewalk sub for me.
Buy thrasher for the lols, transworld for the photos, slap for the articles and the odd kingpin for euro news.
I usually nick the skateboard mag and skateboarder from other people, because by this time, i'm skint.
Document is not really my cup of tea. they rock, but probably another i'd nick and have a flick through from mates.

Concrete wave is a good read, lots of other types of skating. But if I was getting a regular skate mag i'd probably go with sidewalk.

Sidewalk, although Document is getting increasingly rad. Glenn E. Friedman interview was stoking and I here O'Meally has on in this issue.

i prefer the writing style of kingpin, feels less like a secret club than the uk mags, but that said i much prefer the actual content (what is being written about) in sidewalk, as it feels like like they [kingpin] are trying to convince me of how awesomely independant and artistic they are.

Focus is good if you can lay your hands on it. sidewalk is out of ideas bigtime tho.

Yes. I actually wrote an essay on that back in the day. It flopped, ironically they thought I was being too independent in my source material.
Document/Kingpin for photography and articles, Slap/Skateboarder for well presented yank shit and Sidewalk every now and again when big tings a gwarning, they normally have the best coverage of the bigger stuff.

Singletrack mountain bike mag do it 9 times a year too I think. Dunno. Little less than once a month?
Also, how come everybody is repping Slap so much? I got it free from a shop once and it was the biggest pile of crap I have ever read. There was nothing of value in it, just some stupid interviews asking irrelevant questions like "how do you like your coffee".

Have to say that my favorite read is "The Skateboard mag" really will read it back to front which I don't find myself doing with most mags

I know exactly what you mean. I bought it solely for the Marc Johnson SOTY article (which consisted of about 3 paragraphs of text and 14 pages of pics - not that im complaining). I was under the impression that Thrasher had this whole rebellious "skate and destroy" attitude whereas in reality it just looks like they are selling out to advertisers and going all corporate.
Im a Sidewalk subscriber as of last month - looking forward to Mays issue with the new DVS video. The mag itself is always a good read and it keeps me in touch with the UK scene.
I've read a couple of Transworlds and Skateboard Mags and would happily buy either. Although I dont think I would subscribe to one over the other.
