I guess that justice was served.
Although they were both fully aware of the dangers, no matter how drunk they were.

"For your information the thread was locked because the people involved were/are my friends.
Do we need another thread to know that drink driving is stupid?
Or that there are consequences to people's actions?"
Lamest excuse to lock a thead ever?

No one deserves to die, no matter how stupid the circumstances. Ali Boulala gets no sympathy from me, he may be a skateboarder but he still caused the death of someone while drink driving.
Obviously I don't know the circumstances and Shane Cross may have encouraged him, let him serve his two years and I'll wish him well in the future and getting back on his board.

I don't know what my opinion is on this.
He did do wrong so punishment needs to be issued, however I would have thought the injuries he sustained and the mental scaring I'm sure he recieved from killing a friend is bad enough? He didn't mean to kill Shane, it was a horrible accident.
As I said my opinion is undecided so don't hate on me. 4 years isn't exactly all that long though so it probably is a good decision made.
Edit: I thought Shane's family wasn't going to push charges (read in an article ages ago) so howcome it's taken so long for a verdict to be made?

He will pay for the rest of his life having taken Shane's life and also the injuries he has sustained, however even if the family pushed for charges or not I still think giving him two years is an adequate punishment, the judge had to show that doing this sort of thing is not without punishment.

well i reckon it was just good times gone bad, and someone has to pay, ive lost friends in crashes and the driver has walked, and it made me angry as hell, if anyone has met/skated/drunk with boulala you wont be suprised by this.

Most likely to had to wait for him to fully recover before the case could go to court.

Before the crash, Cross was overheard twice telling Boulala he wanted to go for a ride on the motorbike. Boulala wouldn't let Cross go because he didn't have a helmet, Judge Pullen said.

about the length of time it took, court cases always take ages to get sorted out. a while back i was in court over a small incident that my solicitor was suprised went as far as court. with all the time it took to sort out dates and bail etc, adjourment it took about 3 weeks to sort out near enough nothing. more serious cases take alot longer and there is alot more paperwork etc involved.
i dont think ali deserves to go to jail. i dont care if people dont agree with me or not. shane gave his consent and it was manslaughter not murder. they were both drunk with no helmets, so its very likely sumins gona happen. ali lost a friend, and because of the incident maybe lost 2 of his passions in life aswell. whats going through his head after it happened and in hospital is a major shock to his system. hes there feeling major guilt, remorse, feels stupid for his mistakes and probably some type of depressuion. and hes gona go to prison. i cant see him being in the right state of mind to survive this. but i dont really no what the aus jail systems like.
and anyway speakin of prisoners just to say at the end of the post. free ali, free mercston, free roachee
