http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teqkRLvdUTkPissed off at that. It's shocking that a skate company would encourage such dick-headedness and encourage kids that it's cool to do stuff like that, no doubt giving skaters an even worse name than they have already. What the fuck were they thinking? I can understand the need for some publicity but this is over the top.

selling out? what the hell? who are you people to decide what selling out is - ZY has been a tight crew for a long long time, RB and the old shut guys have been putting NY on the map for ever - and agreed, the vid thing was a bit dumb, but "cuntish brand" ??? you all eat kellogs and other "corporate" brands and stuff - so how come a skatecompany is selling out? and i hope who ever said "im not wearing their t-shirt" is joking, coz thats proper lame, you want to wear it when they are cool and not when they arent? so your a sell out, not only that you take your own projection of cool and associate to a brand, that makes a you a victim on consumerism, as for OZ, you know fuck all about skating and desperatly try to inject an overly strong opinion that you prolly picked up off some other forum right? for what purpose? to be "cool"? and sken, not buying a brand coz you can get it from a sport store? what kind of brand snobbery is that?
what im saying is ZY in your eyes were cool, and you wanted part of it, now Marc Echo owns them its not cool, or coz jjb sells them its not cool?
you sold yourselves out, easily led sheep, its no wonder ZY moved with the times to avoid the fickle, childish skatefads, id not want to rely on paying my rent or affording food by working in a market place where an internet forum deems something uncool from 90 dumb seconds of footage on yourtube, i dont blame them for doing what 80% of your precisous skate industry did amd get taken in by a global stable of companies. to sustain, and/or grow - you need stability and skaters and our silly little trends cant sustain or provide that,

they did one thing you didnt like - and you forget about the legacy of harold hunter? Mixtape? the way they dragged urban design foward 20 years? the poioneering photography and film making styles? also they way they represented their culture by blowing up rappers, artists, skaters, film makers - total respect. I interview Marc Echo a few years ago and he was a humble, lovely guy, who bascially is putting something back and helping the ZY thing grow, he gave the "cuntish company" free reign to express them selves on a larger level - as Oz so expertley pointed out the boards are banging, and you like the pictures they do - so your point is pretty invalid if your a pureist, as i said 90 seconds of footage from some over excited dude, that was actually pretty funny, tho gross, doesnt make dudes I admire and respect like Suski and Forest, and they way they went back and hooked up Donny Barley - I wish the UK industry had this sort of love.
ZY just isnt for you Laura, but as a consumer (trend hopper) you can vote with your feet and not buy their products, try consolodated, Birdos outlook on skating would likely be a better match for you own.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha. Pip, I would expect better from you.
Sorry for knowing "fuck all about skating" - I'm obviously not as pro and 'in the know' as you. Of course, by your logic (or lack of it), this makes me incapable of forming an opinion and being able to judge what is acceptable marketing and what is simply picking on people in a pathetic attempt to "spread the word".
I don't know where the desperate attempt to inject an overly strong opinion that I picked up off another forum came from. It didn't come from another forum (and you're so in the know that you'd have instantly spoted if I jacked it off a forum). Why is it a desperate attempt? As Laura pointed out, is sticking to our principles of etuqiette and common decency "selling out"? You think I'm raising the issue of what is essentially public bullying by a company for marketing purposes to be "cool"?
Consider the following scenario: you're on holiday in NY, walking down Wall St and having a good time, when some BMXers and skaters decide to pull up and unload hundreds of cocroaches onto your feet. Do you curse at them and feel severely pissed off, or notice the Zoo York logo and feel happy and reassured that a skate company you love is marketing their product (while having roaches crawl up your trousers, of course)?
The point is this Pip:
no one should be causing a nuisance like that, no matter what company it is and no matter how much good they have done for their industry, especially a company that should be an inspiration for thousands of kids across the globe. If this was, say, a company that made computer parts behaving like this, I'm sure you wouldn't be so protective of them.

Like I said, this isn't about the logic of a subculture, it's about causing a nuisance in public, no matter who is doing it. My grammar/logic is not intended to make you feel small or dumb, it's intended to form a counter-argument to you attacking me over my opinion. You accused me of stealing an opinion off another forum, trying to look cool, and knowing fuck all about skating. Obviously, you can't expect me to accept that when none of it is true. Almost everyone in this thread agrees that the roach thing was a bad thing to do, but I don't see you slagging them off.
Also, you keep going back to how you are a tr00 skater and how I'm apparently some sort of wannabe and how I'm not part of your cool "subculture". Could you please stop this snobbery? Don't forget that they are actually telling all their fans to do these sort of things though. It's more like not supporting a football team because they tell all their supporters to go around attacking the public for no reason.
Think of the 13-14 year skaters who will be influenced by this, and think that it's part of the cool skating subculture. They're probably going to start acting in a similar way to these "few". It's more than enough reason to boycott Zoo's product (no matter how good it may be).
