You could buy the CD from a shop or itunes and actually support the artists so they can carry on making music.....

Artists get fuck all from CD sales. Most of the money is in touring and merchandise.

Even with touring, unless a band is constantly on the road they'll most likely struggle to break even. The real money these days is licensing your music for films and TV. Aphex Twin only plays a couple of gigs a year, but he's a millionaire purely from his music being used in adverts and films.

And i should add that all the money spent on itunes goes only to itunes. It's rare that an artist will see a penny of their sales from itunes.

If anyone else/a band did this they'd be accused of b eing a sellout.
