Little Sesh today. Got up at 6:20. At the skatepark by half 7 for an early morning sesh. The good news was the park was empty, the bad news was, we were both knackered. But anyway, took some shots on my compact (Still no job, therefore no DSLR sad.gif But anyway) and here they are. Nowt special, i could do with a bit more practise at taking skate pics.

Constructive criticism appreciated.

Rock Fakie

A good tip, is to stand further back, so you are more concentrating on the scenery rather than the skater. The coping shot shows good depth, but would look much better if it was further back, and you could see the whole skater, and the ramp he is skating. Like for the rock fakie shot, stand back, have the skater in the left/right hand corner, perhaps have a bit of a ramp in the foreground but out of focus, and have the skater in the background in foucs. This would give it some really good depth. Perhaps try and find abstract lines in the spot, see if there are 2 ramps parallel with each-other, (i.e 2 quarter pipes in a mini ramp) Stand on and angle where it shows they are parallel, then try and get the skater in the shot.

Hope that helps, and the more you practice, the better you will be.

Cheers man, it did occur to me to stand back when i was chopping arms and heads off. But then on the camera the skater always looks so small. I think i sometimes forget that it will be blown up on the PC.

Hopefully i'll go out and take some more sometime.

i like the rock to fakie one.
the coping one would be abit better if the coping wasn't dead centre like, but still, nice job gregory.

Yeah i did try and get a shot like that, but i cropped off his hand cause i'm a dick'ed. In hindsight i should've just moved the camera to the left a bit and asked him to do it again. But i don't really review my shots as i take them. Prefer to take loads then look when i get home.

HARRY.
are you totally sure that isn't me?
Gorg.
You should know. Were you there or not?

And anyway, he didn't have your wonderful essex accent wub.gif

It's not hard to snap a shot. Its just finding something "different". The focused coping is pretty awsomee, and try Portrait shots, with more focus on the foreground or background, not the subject.

Portrait shots for skate photos?
Portait never works long lens, well it does but rarely.

Focus on foreground etc/coping comment = cliche cheesy shit.
