Well had the less than encouraging news that my company is being hit hard by the downturn in spending. the MD's will be making 25% of the company redundant in the next few weeks, that amounts to give or take 25 people losing their jobs.
Ive only worked there 7 weeks so the timing couldnt be worse, its a bastard that as you get older these boring economic matters start to become a real threat. As i'm in the design industry i can pretty much kiss goodbye to getting any work with the credit crunch landscape thats around at the moment, especially in my area of expertise retail design.
so its looking like dole queue if i get the axe... not good!
anyone else been hit yet? i know 5 or 6 people that have been made redundant in the last couple of weeks.

This thread is now about a less woebegone and more satisfying crunch.

glad to see the relevant input into the tread..
Was reading today that the interest rates have been retained for the 3rd month in a row, inevitably not helping the credit crunch issue.
Twinned with the government ever increasing taxes and milking tax payers for every penny available, we are going to pretty much go into recession in the shortcoming future me thinks. Although admittedly its not affecting me as much as others, when i head to uni in September things are going to be that bit more difficult.

personally, i blame kyron.
sorry; but i don't have enough financial knowledge to give input with.
i just know that it's effecting absolutely everything.
the price of a loaf of warburtons bread in tesco went from £1.10 to £1.65 or something in the last 3 months.
something extortionate like that.

Capitalism and economic issues will always be a problem, the human race have fallen into this perpetual cycle years ago, we're jammed here. The sticky residue if a corpse left between the truck and the wall, we're wallowing in it.
I prefer to just ignore it. If I have enough money to live comfortably (just over the bare minimum to survive) then I don't really give a fuck. Call me selfish but raaaaaaaas.

Iv'e heard enough about the credit crunch in business studies, your right it's an unbelievably boring topic, but so relevant to how we live, shame about your job man, if you get made redundant i guess you could just class it as chilled break till you get a job again, my older mate is basically in the same situation as you except he had been working for the company for over a year, the dole he says is shit but enough to survive an do whatever the hell you want, in his case just skating all the time.

Loads of people at work have been talking about this.
Psymonds or someone in the construction industry has just laid off 17K workers or something absolutely mad!!
Loads of housebuilders are going bust.
I hope you're OK James!

Lets be honest, it could be a lot worse. Theres absolutely nothing you can do about it, so you have to adapt and get on with your life.

well thanks for the replies, the constructive ones at least. i find out on friday one way or the other.
found out today 19 people are going to be let go,so a pretty big portion of the company as it stands. And as for those of you with flippant replies, one day the boring things in life become very real, and will directly affect you whether you like it or not.
it all of a sudden becomes less of a laughing matter when you could face losing everything and have to start over with no job,no car and nowhere to live, bills and debts to pay with no way of paying them...

how much do you get from the doll. as far as i know its 200 a month, but im not to sure. ive only noticed small minor effects of the credit crunch, but that doesnt mean the larger ones arent happening yet. just the price rise on everyday things. cigarettes, and stuff from the newsagant
Dr. HeartStrings
Jul 16 2008, 11:19 PM
not sure about the doll, but the dole is upto 86 pounds every 2 weeks i think

Looks like where i work will be cutting back if things dont improve soon. Probably 5 staff will have to be made redundant...dont think it will affect me however if it does im fine about it, i quite enjoyed being dole scum.
The motor trade is on its arse at the moment and the road duty increases havent even hit yet, when september comes around i can imagine many small garages going under due to it. Its frightening how much less cars are worth these days, especially the big petrol 4x4's.. on that note anyone want to buy a 4.4i V8 bmw x5 in black with tan leather, sports pack, sat nav ect for £11k?..road tax will only set you back £1175 a year come septmeber..

WHAT! Outrageous. I don't see the crime unless it's against the mona lisa or something; when nature calls, nature does not hang up and it's like being in a library with a very loud ringtone, and you're searching frantically for the phone but you cannot find it, and everyone looks at you and are getting very angry and you still can't find it and then aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
And then you get fined £80. Stupid.
