Dont be so hard on him,
ok go to www.about.com (or .co.uk!) and find skateboarding under sports and recreation.

Lean to the side to steer, and to push, you put your foot on the floor and push yourself along!

Dont let people teach you tricks, lazy! Each people have there own indivudual way of skating and there own mindset about the whole thing. Learn yourself and you'll be more thankfull for it. Just watch some vids and learn the basics and think about the trick and how it works, smile.gif

to push: stand on the board however feels natural to you. then use either your front or back foot (whichever feels natural) to push off, then stick that foot back on the board and youre away!

don't let the haters put you off!!!
get used to the board, stationary. feel the way it behaves when you lean it from side to side (toe to heel) as you stand on it. this is how a board steers. moving slowly, keep your bodyweight centered above the deck and try the toe/heel movement to feel the way the board snakes gently. the faster you go the more you'll have to lean your body into the turns.... i have an "old school" stance that's great for stability but no good for flip trix. if it'll help you get started, ball of front foot over the bolts, ball of back foot on the tail.

keep going tho' don't give up! it'll all come together in the end... don't worry about bails and slams, there's not a single skater here that hasn't slammed (a lot)

You should be able to teach urself most of it. But one nothing you MUST do is when you push make sure you push with your BACK FOOT! so when your pushing your front foot should be on the board and back foot on the ground, this will save you lots of troubles in later skating.

get over yourself man, at least he had the guts to admit to a bunch of strangers that he's not that good, when he could have told us he was awesome and we would never have known the difference.

my advice to him is, try not to learn mongo, once you get used to it, it's hard to break the habit.
