As much as security/teacher/police ect may piss you off with their attitude, its best to leave straight away. Dont bother even trying to reason with them as your only pissing in the wind.

Use your head! Security aint going to let you skate a supermarket carpark during the middle of the day, nor are you going to get away with skating a school while the teachers and other staff are still there. (Saying that theres a school in chorley were the staff are cool with us skating there as long as we dont leave no mess)

If you are in a confrontal situation with security ect, be the bigger person, just walk off, by giving shit back to them is only going to add fuel to the fire.

Take your shit home with you..empty bottles, cans, crisp packets ect. if your skating a spot that isnt a bust, making it look like a bombs dropped after you have left isnt going to help matters in the future....your only giving them a reason to throw you off next time!

Ive found that if your actualy cool about things it pays off in the long run.. we skate a few spots that security used to be an issue, but now we are left to it, hassle free.... amazing what sweeping a little glass up that you dont want to slam on can do.

i stole a bin for our most popular spot where i live, it wasnt properly nicked, i found it by the side of a skip, but a couple of days later it had gone!!

If the police do come. Whatever you do, don't start cheeking them or anything. Just agree with what they say and move off the spot. Never give them fake addresses or numbers either. If you mess it up, or someone blurts out where you live then you're fucked. You'd be surprised how lame they can be so behave.

One of our local spots is now a complete no go area, basicly due to people giving shit to security. In all fairness the security gaurd was a complete cock but the police got involved and a large amount of people had theyre names and addresses taken, even those who where present who were not skating nor did they have a skateboard.

Letters were sent to these peoples parents and for most of them, they got a load of grief for it.

It wasnt even worth arguing over as the spots not that great, was more of a meeting point for people before they headed off to other spots.

Respect your skate spots, as when they are gone you will realise how good that waxed curb and manual pad really was.

tis best not to give security too much grief, yes they only have limited powers, but if it all goes pear shaped and the old bill gets called who are the gonna believe, you or some other uniform?

the point aint bout the police comin its that if you talk bak to some on there gonna think that every skaters the same as you so you fuk up that spot for everyone so dont be a prick

you dont have to say shit to police unless theyre arresting you. know your rights.

can be wise not to get "militant" and "i know my rights" with the old bill (unless they are gonna do ya) coz they can always escalate higher than you.
try to keep it friendly and reasonably polite, and you'll be ok.

the business centre where me and ben used to skate. we had a good time with security there he'd say if any one asked he hadnt seen us and tell us where all the good crates were etc... that guy ruled a sizeable portion of ass.

Tesco in leyland, went tonight and it was hassle free, but there was no security about tonight. A while back matt,lee and around 20 others got there names taken by the police and letters sent home threatening them with asbos.

yeah its the same as getting arrested. if your sweet as to the cops they are cool with you.
i have avoided enough raids cos i learnt that early.

Another thing, never underestimate how sensitive coppers can be. Seriously, most of the ones I've met are on a 24/7 powertrip. You get in the way of it or offend them by "cheeking them" and they tend to get rather nasty. Comply with what they say and stay polite. Aslong as they think you respect them, you'll be fine.

I'll respect them once they respect me. I was skating yesterday and a security guard came out and said "Fuck off before I call the coppers you cheeky little shits" A bit out of order, I think.

Dont do what neil, darren and pete steele did on preston uni. They were skatin the big 5 set and the security turned up and asked them to leave. Neil etc. wernt happy and started to hassle them and darren asks

"if i give you a hug will you let us skate here?"

And they started hugging the security guard, haha!. Mike filmed it and ive still to watch it back.

Then the fuzz arivved and the policewoman gave us a big speech about why we shouldnt skate here, then took ou details

Right in the middle of this darren needed to break wind and let it out a lot louder than he expected. All of us started to giggle and it was a classic!

Even tho it was piss funny at the time, its a bit unnerving if they were gonna skatestop the sets there cos of hassle.

Then we all went home....

the School I skate in nowone gives a fuck, in fact one time the security guard asked me if he shut the gate after his car could i still get out. He now knows where i live caus hes seen me jump my fence into the school and he just says hello to me and goes on with what hes doing.

It's alright aslong as they ask you nicely . IF they ust say "oi you little cunts get the fuck off our land" why should you listen to them , respects a two way thing.If they come and say "listen , you're not aloud to skate here we're getting complaints ",then that's fair enough.

But if you are on private property your trespassing and have no right whatsoever to be there, regardless of how your spoken to its much easier to just go.

The majority of the time we're not on private land , and now it's illegal to skate on the street i was told tonight.

soem police in blackpool are oright with us as they know there really isnt anywhere for us to go but u do get the odd arsehole that will kick u off

i works in matalan like an they got a new car park built an some new buildins next to it...so me an my friend brian an escorcio, ozzy, hanson, an a frootbooter brady were aktin there...but i decided to go around the back to find some stuff to skate...by the way we hadnt skate here before....so i went round the back where there were no signs sayin that i wasnt allowed round there....an a security guard pulled up in his van...so im like ah poo...an he started runnin at me with a metal pole so im like "OHHHH shit" so i fukin pegs it round to the front!an my friends are like y u runnin an they then see the security chasin me so the run too! but brady the frootboot got grabbed an hasled by the security..an he'd dun fuck all rong...apart from choosin the rong sport but that anoither story... an the security also grabby ozzys coat...so we start to walk back at this security guard...tryin not to look like where gonna kick his ass like...so we go over an be all polite tryin to reason with him an get the coat back...but hes havin none of this... an then he shouted at us in his lil foreign accent "ill kill you" haha...so brian goes "haha ya gonna kill all six of us haha" then security cunt grabbed my friend by the throat an pushed him...an at this point i started to hav a go at the cunt for layin his hands on my man brian (not in a gay way u no he's my man in like a friend kinda way...although ive never met a gay skater?? weird ini) so im havin a go at this guy an he pushed my face an before id even had a chance to react to this, brian, who had been drinkin lucosade an had the bottle in his hand...and is stand about 5 ft from this security guard fukin thorws this bottle as hard as he could an it smashed the security in the face...it hit him sooooo fukin hard...so brian took 2 caution steps back like coz he jus smacked this guy who was already pissed off an accusin us of stealin an gettin his wages taken off him somehow... an this guy jus lunged an him so brian is peggin it an the security guards chasin him...an im like fuk this im helpin brian...so brian is runnin...at some fukin pace i gotta say...he nearly fell over a fookin speed hump too that would hav sucked...an the security guards jus behind him an jus behind the security guard is me chasin him to stop him from gettin brian it was like a fukin comedy sketch it was awesome..but brian jumped up this bank an security cunt couldnt do it coz he was a willy...so brian stands his distance an then the rest of us go over to him...still bein polite an he refuses to give the jumper back still so were arguin with him then....an he eccused escorcio of stealin the builders tools haha an escorcio aint havin none of this shit so he goes nuts shoutin at this security guard an then we sumhow got the jumper back...i cant remeber how exaclty i think he jus knew we werent givin up...an he walked away with a bottled face an we walked away laffin at him!
thennnnn a few days later he comes into my works to buy some gloves...an guess who served him at the till....ME haha i fukin loved it :D

from my experience the cop's are ok provided you dont give them shit...

Security guards on the other hand are either dead cool or complete dicks.. most annoying thing i ever had was when the security at our local morissons called the clamping company to do my car.. even though i'm skating right next to it, and its unlocked n shit.. had to pay 100 quid to free my car.. thats annoying.. whenever possible i'll leave my car close to the spot, but not make it so obviously mine.

that said.. round here the general rules are as follows..

Supermarkets / Retail parks. Dont care after closing time. so knowing when things close is very useful.

Office parks.. Seem to be the 'new thing' Outside normal weekday working hours they're empty and they're also often out of the way so people dont pass through. Great for evening and weekend skating. we're now plotting to stash a grind box at a local office spot (on top of what myself and others carry around in the car). Often not much apart from manual pads, gaps and maybe the odd set of steps. once we've got a grind box there.. plus the grind bar in my car its gonna be a great little spot. (kickers are planned once the grind box is done too) So far never been busted at one of these.

Schools. Never had a school that have got away with skating for more than a month or two. Caretakers and neighbors of primary schools seem especially bad, secondary schools are nearly as bad. some schools here have some good steps etc but are inpenetrable Weekends in the 6 weeks holiday or two week half-terms are a good times to investigate private schools as most boarders go home on those occasions only.

Colleges. Both the local colleges here are ok for skating and seem to be bust free. Rumours recently of busts at one local college.. but i've not experienced it myself yet.

Car Parks/Town Centres/Bus Stations/Railway stations etc. These used to be the staple of my skate diet back in the day. Back then our bus station used to be our skate spot. As the towns got bigger and busier and as sunday shopping has become the norm they've become unskateable. Back in the day (early 90's) we used to have free run of the town centre as it was mostly empty.

I'm never aggressive to security or police, but I normally question them as much as I can because I'm not gonna pretend to be happy about it.

Wherever I skate I make sure I leave the place the same way as I got there.

I always skate somewhere when it's empty because I like to skate in peace & without hassle.

If a Sec Guard speaks to me in a polite manner or explains that it's just part of the job & is cool then I'll understand & leave, but if he's an arshole about the whole thing & gets aggressive for no reason then I'll give gip back.

Keep in mind that half the time, the person kicking you out of the spot doesn't really care -- they're just doing a job. Yeah, you'll occasionally get some guy on a power-trip who thinks he's a big man because he's chasing away some 16 year-olds, but that won't be the case most of the time.

Also, speaking as one of the trouble groups in the original post (teacher), I can tell you that just being polite and civil is usually the best thing you can do. I'm much more likely to overlook one of my students doing something wrong if I like him/her.
