Local skateshop man says New Deal distribution went into receivership today

YAY! nduk used to be cool....then fucked the industry with "price point" shit which had a knock on effect to the shops selling the same amount of gear - but making less - and by doing HSC designed to take sales away from the shops who supported new deal in the first place

yeah i was speaking to some dude at the heroin premiere that said new deal have gone bust.

whatever pippi said, they are basically part of british skate history, and its gonna fucked up mags like document for a bit because every month new deal had like 17 pages of adverts.

nduk stole all its business - and when it "changed" in 1999/2000 and the UK skate industry but its cash cows in one basket - and touted itself "FOR SALE DC DEALERSHIP" and some joeys ran it in tot he ground! PLUS they fucked off the thing that helped them out in the early days (harrow skatepark) and then practically lost links with its co-founders (NEW DEAL...steve douglas...etc) they found themselves in the wilderness - then went agressive on getting sales from skateshops......then favoured places like route one........then went agressive on acocunts on stop who werent selling the gear it went a bit pear for them. greed greed greed.

whats gonna happen about distribution now then? will it mean we wont get some product fora while?

why doesnt another distribution co. take it over.

trade deals take a while to tie up - and you have to commit to a product - sometimes for 3 or 4 years at a time - so until an inventory of nduk goes ahead it wont be up for auction - but id imagine nduk owe a fuck load of money to people like giant and dlx and they will be looking for the stock back, or paid for....thats where someone like Faze7 step up and buy the stock from the liquidators and carry on witht the dealership. i cant imagine the us factory syndicates getting in to shiners again. could be interesting, one things for sure - shops are allowed to import direct until a merchant is found to stock the gear and im damn sure its not gonna drop in price to the uk shopper

ahem, i already have an account with an american distributor, annd when i finally get shippy sorted i should be able to sell girl, black label, popwar (you know £60 decks) at £40...

i used to use southshore and dlx - but the thing is this: you get ZERO warranty (not like shops in the uk know what that means) and the other is import tax. i just got some gear from skateamerica - was cheaper than dlx could do it for and it arrived pretty quickly - but as a SHOP your risking black listing by grey importing from america. i know faze 7 and newdeal used to just stop supplying people for that - or Rays usual trick if you did that is to just send you crap on your deliveries!
