The man at the store knew i was anewbie and recommended these. so i have these things stuck to where my trucks should be and i cant take em off! what are they for?

Riser pade give you a little more room between your trucks and your deck.
It tends to stop wheel bite. (leaning to one side whilst going along and your wheels touch your deck, resulting in you going slower or falling off all together).
And they also help to give you a softer landing.
They're not really a requirement, but everyone uses them, and I wouldn't get on my board without them! (there's a horrible wood cracking noise without them).

personally i don't use them, i don't like the way they feel, but they do have a large number of benefits and i would recommend using them.

I find that they give you pressure cracks easier on your board, so I don't tend to use them anymore.

On my old board I didn't have them but I'm getting a new one for x-mas and they come with risers.
Riserpads are there for cushioning between your deck and your trucks. To soften your landings and such. Basically it's a shock absorber.

my dad ordered me a set up, it had to have free riser pads or (risers of your choice) i couldnt skip it so im stuck with some free cheapo risers under my board, im gunna take it off when i get the set up,

I used to have world industries risers, but I gave them away, I dont like them!
