if you skate in groups then you progress alot quicker and its usualy more fun, weekdays i just skate in my garden just trying out new tricks but at weekends i always go out with the same group we skate all around and thats what pushes to get better quicker

word of warning to anyone who is not familiar with the flat banks at southbank and intends to skate them - make sure you inspect the top of them so you know where the holes and cracks are, trust me, it will benefit you. Ive got a fat scar on my hip from a when i bailed on them, over a year ago now

I get bored skating on my own & if you skate in a group where a few people are better than you then you will learn tricks a lot faster.
You also push each other harder to do stuff I reckon & it ain't worth attempting anything big unless a few people are there to watch you fall off, so that at least they get something out of it.

I Used to skate alone a lot, but now i've met up with a group of skaters i hang out with, it's funny, when i skated on my own I progressed slowly but surely and didn;t injure myself that much, now i'm skating in a group, I learn faster but im almost crippled most days because of the crazy stuff they "inspire" me to try (damn peer pressure)
P
saying that im chuffed with something i've learnt lately on my own, a 12 foot 50-50 along the banks at southbank, i also managed a 5-0 but only got about 6 foot with that
;O)

plus you dont' wanna fall and get knocked unconscious, bleeding, and starting to go into a seizure by urself... My mates would just leave me. But they don't skate.
Reminds me oddly of going out drinking, when some random bloke has just sold me a fivers...

Playstation is terrible unless you go on a weekday, holidays weekends etc. are all deathtraps with a bunch of three year olds, or the really good people, who just cut you up.
We got some wierd emoticons since I left.

i like skating in groups more, you attempt tricks that youd otherwise just give up on. and you see more lines by watching people. unfortunately most of the time i do it solo...

Feb 22 2004, 07:21 PM
It's just the little banks either side of the wheelchair access ramp, you can fly up em and 50-50 along the top before going back in

YenSid
Feb 22 2004, 08:31 PM
yea, parks are ok, I do head to playstation every weekend for the beginners session, but there always crowded and theres just something special about landing a trick somewhere that wasn't built for it

I like to skate on my own, the group i hang around with skating are a pain in the arse, it all gets really competative in the end, so when someone ends up doing something better then someone else, the do-er usually sticks his middle fingers up and laughs at um.. Skating on your owns much more enjoyable, You can concentrate on skating rather then having to stop becuase someones trying to tell you about what bushings there gonna get next or what board there mate had before hand, Less talkin' more action as i say
YenSid
Feb 22 2004, 07:34 PM
Silver pipe bit? where's that?
Mazza
Feb 23 2004, 10:23 PM
