I know that this has nothing to do with skating, but i need advice and thought someone of here might be able to help me. Last friday i went to visit UWIC (University of Wales Institute Cardiff) as i'm thinking of doing a masters degree there. I liked the uni (altho its a bit small) and the town centre seems cool. I didn't come across many chavs and i've heard Cardiffs really good for skate spots. But, as i've only visited once, i'm not sure what to think and whether to take up the place i've been offered. If anyone has ANYTHING good or bad to say about Cardiff or UWIC or any advice to give i would be very grateful.

My sister goes to UWIC in Cardiff her pros and cons...
Pros - night life is good - metros and barfly being the best good student nights 99p a double + mixer
UWIC art school is amazing - talented students and great bar
tutors are down to earth
Cons - very unorganised! They couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

Cardiff's skate spots are some of the best in Britain.

Thanks Trix, i definately like the sound of 99p a double! You certainly couldn't get that in Wolverhampton! The more i hear the more i like the thought of going. I'm going to Cardiff again this weekend to check out the nightlife. I think then i'll know for def if its right for me as last time i just visited the uni.

If it's UWIC on Colchester Avennue, then you have numerous skate spots surrounding you. Just have to find them.

Went to Cardiff again last weekend for a night out on the town. It was wicked! There are some great bars and clubs. Now i definately wanna go! Just hope i definately get the place at the uni. And i saw loads of skaters. What more could u want!

ive got quite a few mates there,im up the road at glamorgan uni,pontypridd.


they have sod all students union,very few clubs and societies,and none of their own venues,they just scalp off of cardiff uni.and the worst part...............UWIC halls of residence are fecking miles from a lot of the lecture venues,my m8 has to catch a 20 min bus to get to hers.


im biased,but glam uni is a good laugh...........cardiff uni is cool too mind.

Thats the sports UWIC. The main one in town is close to Bute, one of the best spots in Wales.

Even better if it's near bute.

I miss Bute Square.
