Rob Drydek's self indulgent poorly planned, badly voice acted and overally absymal attempt at making a cartoon. Seriously, can anyone actually tolerate this insult to skateboarding and animation. -
Machinima
Posted 13 Jan 2010
Machinima?
super cool or super nerdy?
For those of you who leave the house frequently, Machinima is a style of filmmaking which involves the manipulation and recording of video games footage; the most infamous of these projects including "Red vs Blue" and the "Make Love not Warcraft" episode of South Park amongst many others. I've been working on a machinima-based final year project for my degree and while not of any particular relevence to my dissertation per se, I was wondering what people thought of this. Do any of you find it possible to see a game as more than that; immerse themselves in a fictional show as you would any other TV show or film? While the Machinima style has been somewhat underground since it's conception, this proving to be something of an internet hit but rarely seen on TV, does anyone think it could be taken seriously? I've been looking into the production of a commercial project using a video game over the past few months and it would interest me to see if any of you find this an enticing idea.
Also, for the sake of feedback, here is a short machinima project I produced last year. It took five hours to film and 20 hours to edit; this perhaps giving you all some idea of the speed at which this can be produced. I know there are lots of faults with this I intend to iron out, but for a rushed job it will hopefully serve some purpose as initial research

Many thanks to anyone who actually reads this topic; my next one will be about skateboarding I promise

Back Pain
Posted 14 Oct 2009
Think it's the first time I've started a topic here, but I've been having these back problems and was wondering if anyone could help.
Over summer I skated loads and, as a result, had a great time. However, towards the end, my back started playing up, aching whenever I was out and so on. I thought the problem would go away after getting back to uni as I haven't skated once, but oddly the pain seems to be getting worse. Recently, I've found bending down quite painful and at the moment I just have a continuous pain in my lower back that has proved so uncomfortable it has woken me up at this early hour on my day off. I'm not sure if the best option would simply be to get more bed rest (which I could probably manage with my attrociously relaxed uni schedule) or if I should actively do something about it.
Anyone else experienced anything similar or have any advice? Thanks
