Work has begun on Tamworth’s new skatepark after two years of hard work campaigning to get a new park in the town. The project began in January 2007 with Tamworth Wheeled Sports Club spearheading the campaign.

The current skate park in River Drive has problems with flooding after heavy rain and a new location was found away from the river at Castle Pleasure Grounds. The skate park has been made possible by financial contributions from Tamworth Borough Council and the Youth Capital Fund.

This was followed by a cash injection of £50,000 from the Youth Capital Fund. Work on the skate park will take around two months to complete.
